On Thursday me and Dwayne thought we would get up early, have a nice breakfast and take off to Douglas Lake for a day of fishing. We decided to go to Douglas since I have a new listing on the lake. 5.3 acres in the Muddy Creek area on Brightstone Point listed at $250K. We were going to take a For Sale" sign and put on the lake side so boat traffic could see. Instead we wound up going to Norris Lake since it was closer and I had an offer come in on one of my other listings late Wednesday night and I had to meet the sellers and present the offer at 5pm. This is a good thing since I really need a paycheck. But.......it seems I am always busiest when me and Dwayne make plans to spend a nice day together. Anytime I want my phone to ring all I have to do is plan a nice day off with my family......RING....RING.....RING.....
Even though fishing used to be the thing that I loved to do because it took away all the tension and it was just me, Dwayne and the fish and I could relax and have fun, now I am tense, sometimes grouchy and irritable, especially when I get call after call and text after text and Dwayne is catching all the fish and I am CATCHING NOTHING!
Thursday was different though. We had a wonderful breakfast together. He hooked up the boat while I gathered all my real estate contact info to take with me and then off we went for our short day on the lake.. My phone did ring...ring....ring....and the text kept coming but neither of us were catching fish. About 2pm he told me I should set an alarm for 3pm so we could start back to the ramp. We fished a while longer and shortly before the alarm would go off I told him "You know even though we haven't caught any fish I have really had a good time today and the company was great!".... and I meant it. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT HIT MY LINE...... I was fishing one of Dwayne's favorite fishing patterns, dragging a Texas-rigged green pumpkin chigger craw along the bottom of the lake and all of a sudden a 2.8 lb smallmouth hit my line and what fun it was to get that fish in the boat! After I kissed it(not really, just gave it a love pat on the tummy) and posed for pictures I released it back into the lake. In a few minutes Dwayne said "You know even though I haven't caught any fish I have had a good time today and the company was great!".... Sorry to say he still didn't catch anything this time. I don't know when we will get to go again since he is planning a golf date next week with a co-worker. We don't get to do too much together since our schedules don't allow it. Maybe week after next he will take a day off in the middle of the week and we can make that trip to Douglas and put that "For Sale" sign up at 530 Brightstone Way. Boy, I 'd like to sell that one!
